Keep Your Vegetables Fresher Longer Here's a tip for those who don't have a 12-member family. Did you buy a cucumber and didn't use up all of it one go? Or a cabbage? Or perhaps there's half a pumpkin in your refrigerator. If you put your veggies in the fridge, they might not rot right away, but they will start looking a little sorry around the edges, especially where you cut them. To make your veggies stay fresh longer, wrap them in old newspaper. Yes! That's it. I'm not a physicist, so I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it does seem to work.
